STUDENT CHOREOGRAPHY

New in 2024!

Ready to share your artistic creations?

Step into the spotlight with our Student Choreography Contest! This is a unique platform designed to unleash the creative potential of young dancers and choreographers. Choreography is not just about creating steps, but about telling stories, expressing emotions, and bringing ideas to life through movement. This is your opportunity to make a statement, to be bold, and to inspire others with your vision and talent.

01. Conceptualization

Developing Your Theme: Brainstorm and define a clear concept or story for your routine. What message or emotion do you wish to convey?

Music Selection: Choose a piece of music that not only matches your theme but also inspires your choreographic vision. The rhythm, mood, and dynamics of the music should align with your choreographic intentions.

Storyboarding Your Routine: Plan the progression of your dance. Consider the beginning, climax, and conclusion to ensure a cohesive narrative.

Costuming and Props: Select costumes that align with your theme and contribute to the visual storytelling, while allowing freedom of movement. Use any props wisely—they should add to, not detract from, your dance.

02. Choreography

Choreographic Elements: Focus on key elements like space, time, and energy. Experiment with different levels, directions, and dynamics to add depth and interest to your routine. Develop dance sequences that align with your theme. Focus on originality and ensure your movements are expressive and meaningful.

Formations and Spatial Awareness: For duos, trios, or groups, plan your formations and transitions creatively. Utilize the performance space effectively and think about how dancers interact with each other and the space around them.

Rehearsals: Practice is crucial for refining movements, ensuring timing precision, and perfecting transitions, especially in group pieces. Refine your choreography based on what works best in rehearsals.

Recording the Performance: Ensure good lighting and clear visibility for recording. Capture the routine from angles that best showcase your choreographic work.

03. Reflection & Growth

Learning from the Experience: Take time to reflect on what you've learned from this process. Consider the strengths of your piece, as well as areas where you faced challenges. Every routine you create is an opportunity to grow and enhance your skills.

Seeking Feedback: Don’t hesitate to seek feedback from peers, mentors, or instructors. Constructive criticism is invaluable for your development. It’s important to be open to suggestions and different perspectives.

Celebrating Your Journey: Lastly, celebrate your journey as a young choreographer. Each step, from conceptualization to performance, is a testament to your creativity and dedication to the art of dance. Embrace each experience as a stepping stone in your artistic development.

This contest is more than just a competition; it's a celebration of creativity, passion, and the art of dance. We are excited to see your unique interpretations and the stories you choose to tell through your choreography. Let your imagination run wild, embrace the challenge, and most importantly, have fun with it. We can't wait to witness the incredible talent and originality that you bring to this digital stage. Good luck to all our talented participants!
